ENTRY 1: “SILENT SPRING”
So here we are! Finally live to the world!
It may have been a tad overdue, but I’m extremely happy to be taking the steps towards a much more cohesive and consistent presence for my work going forward. This website is going to be one of the biggest steps towards doing that!
If you’re wondering what the title “Silent Spring” means, you’ll find that I like to give esoteric and abstract titles to things like story chapters, volume names, or journal entries. This habit’s one of many examples of my intuitive type of creativity. In short it feels like this website going live is a quiet, but powerful leap or “spring” into the consciousness of others. A jump from nothing to something, and at the end of the day isn’t that what the nature of creating art is?
But! To stay on topic: congrats for being here for the very start of Prismhaus Comics! Unless you’re reading this in the far future…in that case you can still pretend! I like to think you were here in spirit!
So, what IS Prismhaus Comics?
Think of it like an ice cream truck rolling through the neighborhood, music blaring. But when you walk up to it instead of frozen treats there are comics on display! In short, it’s the brand vehicle to deliver all my current and future stories to YOU the reader! And just like the humble ice cream truck, it’s also run and operated by one guy: me!
Folks who followed me for a while before I established this website are aware that I have a myriad of concepts that I want to get out into the world. For the longest time I was content doing that through sketches, doodles, and singular illustrations that I would post in a steady “drip feed” to followers. As satisfying as that might have been in the short term, it didn’t deliver what I wanted to ultimately do for these works: full length comics.
I won’t lie, this drip feed over the years has helped me build a big base of people genuinely excited to see my original ideas fully brought to fruition, and for that I couldn’t be more grateful. But that also means there are people curious about several different titles that I’ve teased at various points. From the boxing action of “Ortiz”, to the political drama of “Kashmir”, to the fantasy adventure of “WEST”. There’s no shortage of names people will drop when talking about what they’re interested in seeing, and that really lights my fire!
But in order to build up the momentum to tackle these long-form concepts, I need to first cut my teeth on something smaller. Shorter. Simple.
Before I can get to any of these projects looming on the horizon, you folks will be getting treated to a handful of shorter “one-shot” stories from me. Tighter narratives with smaller scopes, more modest casts, and simpler settings! I currently have three of these one-shot ideas on deck to do, and their shorter length means I am aiming to get all of them finished by the first quarter of 2026. This isn’t a concrete deadline, but a time-frame that I’m shooting for to keep myself moving! The titles for these works in the order they’ll be released will be:
“A Live Demonstration”
“Hotel RED”
“Black Bullet”
For now I’m keeping the genres and synopses on the hush-hush so these can be a fresh and unspoiled surprise when they come out. In the meantime though, feel free to let your imagination run wild! Once these are done I plan on then pivoting to a medium-length narrative in conjunction with starting one of the big titles! I’m still narrowing down candidates on that latter front, but right now the most likely is my women’s boxing comic “Ortiz”.
With all these things being said, that should wrap it up for now! Since we’re at the very start, there isn’t a ton for me to share or update you about at the moment. But rest assured: once we really get the ball rolling I’ll have plenty to talk about, and plenty of exciting plans to share with you all!
Stay tuned and thank you again for joining me on this journey! Never stop creating things, stay safe, and God Bless!
Always creating,
D.E. Belton
